The quote “Amateurs built the ark and professionals built the Titanic” (or some variant of it) means, in essence, that one’s plentiful experience does not necessarily ensure a better outcome in their field of expertise.
Being a rather inexperienced person in the world of writing (unless you count high school essays…), I find myself playing the role of the amateur.
